Please note that these rules are not intended to restrict the enjoyment of members or visitors and are only issued with the intent of maintaining the necessary safety of all members and the continuity of the club.

Rules will be modified if necessary; notice will be given.

  1. Members not possessing an ‘A’ certificate may not fly except under the
    direct control and guidance of a club instructor or willing ‘A’
    certificate holder member.
  2. New members who already hold a BMFA R/C Achievement Certificate may not
    fly unsupervised until they have demonstrated a standard of flying
    ability to the satisfaction of a R&DMFC examiner
  3. Flying times: Weekdays 10am to dusk,
    Sundays 10am to 5pm only. Silent flight only after 5.00pm, never fly in bad
    light.
  4. Before flying any model, a flight line must be established depending on
    the wind direction. All flying must be in front of and well clear of this
    line. See drawing for possible flight lines
  5. Members must always assume responsibility for safety on and around the
    field, and are required to warn other members of safety procedures, flight
    patterns, take – off and landing areas, if and when necessary. They must
    also advise spectators, if present, of the safest areas from which to
    watch, and if necessary request the moving of cars parked in inappropriate
    positions on the road.
    Note:- Always try to use the minimum parking space to prevent undue
    congestion on the road, and park fully on the grass verge.
  6. All members must follow any instruction issued by the Club Safety
    Officer.
  7. On arrival, members should adhere to instructions on the warning board,
    regarding turning phones off and waiting to receive authority to cross the
    field safely.
  8. Members must place a peg on the peg board before flying, If using the
    35MHz system the peg must also display their frequency number. Pegs should
    be removed from the peg board after flying.
  9. Model noise levels should not exceed 82dB(A) at 7 meters as described in
    the Code of Practice on Noise from Model Aircraft 1982
  10. Transmitters must be left, switched on, while a model is retrieved
    after landing
  11. Transmitters must not be switched on within 1 mile of the flying field.
  12. Any flying over spectators and behind the flight line is strictly
    forbidden.
  13. Models must not be taxied in the pit area, or directly towards the
    flight line when leaving the runway after landing.
  14. No more than four aircraft must be in the air at the same time.
    (Subject to Safety Officer’s discretion).
  15. Accidents involving serious damage and injury to a third party MUST be
    reported to a committee member.
  16. When a full size aircraft approaches the field. All models should be
    brought down below 50ft and landed if necessary
  17. The Committee reserve the right to refuse or restrict the flying of
    unsuitable models.
  18. Long engine runs (Testing or run-in) should be carried out in a safe
    corner of the field.
  19. All rubbish should be removed from the site.
  20. All club equipment should be put away before leaving, to present a
    low-visibility from the road.

Guests and Visitors

  • Members introducing a guest will be held responsible for their conduct
    and informing them of the club rules.
  • Guests and visitors may not fly except under the direct control and
    guidance of a club instructor or willing ‘A’ certificate holder member.
  • Guests and visitors may only fly during three visits in any one year.
  • Children (up to the age of 18) and Vulnerable Adults
  • The club is happy to encourage children and vulnerable adults to become
    members and to offer the training
  • facilities available but any such members must be accompanied at all times and at all club events or functions by a parent, guardian or other person with written authority for their supervision.
