Thinking about taking up model flying? Rotherham & District Model Flying Club welcomes complete beginners as well as experienced pilots. Come and meet us, watch a flying session and ask questions before you buy any equipment.

Come and see us
You can make up to three free visits before deciding whether to join. Please contact the club before travelling so we can arrange to meet you and let you know who will be at the field.
Members are usually at the field on Saturdays and Sundays from about 12.30 pm. The field is available from 10 am.
Finding the flying field
We fly at Braithwell on Cockhill Field Lane. The lane runs down the left-hand side of the village Post Office. Follow it for about half a mile; the field is on your left. Please park fully on the grass verge without blocking the road.

Can I learn to fly?
Yes. Our BMFA-registered instructors can help beginners learn to fly and work towards the BMFA ‘A’ certificate. You don’t need to arrive with a model. Talk to us first and we’ll explain how training works and what equipment may suit you.

What does membership cost?
Membership includes club and BMFA fees, and CAA registration may also apply. The total can depend on when you join. See the membership page for current fees and details of any first-year discount. If anything is unclear, please ask us when you get in touch.
